When applied topically, it inhibits tyrosinase and prevents melanin formation.
Therefore, arbutin is used as a skin whitening agent. Very small amounts of arbutin are found in wheat, pear skin, and other foods. It is also found in magnolia trees and cabbage. Arbutin has also been produced by in vitro culture of the Schisandra chinensis (Schisandra chinensis).
α-Arbutin is a differential isomer of β-arbutin. Its chemical name is 4-hydroxyphenyl-α-D-glucopyranoside, and the glycosidic bond is spatially opposite that of β-arbutin.
Arbutin whitens skin by inhibiting melanin production and deposition. Compared to β-arbutin, α-arbutin penetrates the skin at lower concentrations and more effectively inhibits tyrosine activity without affecting skin cell proliferation.
It is a safe whitening ingredient that is popular both domestically and internationally. It binds to tyrosinase to block melanin production and reduce cytochrome deposition.
The chemical properties of α-arbutin are more stable than those of β-arbutin, making it easier to add to a variety of whitening skincare formulas.
Storage: Store in a clean place at a temperature of 15-25℃, protected from light and moisture.
