This resilient plant grows in the arid regions of Southern Africa and can withstand extreme environmental stress, such as prolonged water shortages, high salt concentrations, and intense sunlight.

To survive, these plants accumulate low molecular weight compounds called glucosides, which help maintain their structural integrity, protect cell membranes and certain proteins, and reduce moisture loss by increasing osmotic pressure within the cells. DropCare® 3GL Glycerol glucoside is also present in salt-tolerant cyanobacteria, as well as in red wine, white wine, and sake.
In cosmetic applications, glycerol glucoside effectively activates aquaporin AQP3, providing deep hydration to the skin. Clinical trials have shown that a 1.5% concentration of glycerol glucoside can significantly reduce transdermal water loss and repair the skin barrier after just 10 days of treatment in dry conditions. Additionally, glycerol glucoside has been found to effectively diminish the appearance of crow's feet, dry lines, fine lines, and other wrinkles.
