Quaternium-73, also known as Pionine, is a highly effective antibacterial ingredient commonly used in Japanese over-the-counter (OTC) acne treatment products, such as Kobayashi's Anti-Acne First Aid Stick. It appears as a yellow, odorless, crystalline powder with excellent stability and broad-spectrum antibacterial properties, demonstrating potent efficacy even at low concentrations. Quaternium-73 is known for its outstanding antibacterial properties, effectively inhibiting acne-causing bacteria such as Propionibacterium acnes, Staphylococcus aureus, and Escherichia coli, helping prevent and alleviate acne.
