Product Details

DropBrigt ® DL-MA (Mandelic acid) is a type of α-hydroxy acid containing an aromatic group, with the molecular formula C 6 H 5 CH(OH)CO 2 H. It is a white crystalline solid that is soluble in water and polar organic solvents.

DropBrigt ®  DL-MA (Mandelic acid) has a molecular weight of approximately 152.1 Daltons, which is larger than other hydroxy acids (e.g., glycolic acid, 76.0 Daltons). This molecular weight allows mandelic acid to penetrate the skin more slowly, making it gentle and suitable for all skin types, including sensitive skin.

It is a precursor to various pharmaceuticals. Mandelic acid has long been used in medicine as an antibacterial agent, particularly in the treatment of urinary tract infections.

 

Some hospitals use a 1.0% (pH=2.4) mandelic acid (MA) solution as a bladder wash to prevent urinary tract infections associated with indwelling catheter insertion.

To investigate the bactericidal effect of DropBrigt® DL-MA on indwelling catheters and urinary tract infections.

Preparation: 60.4g citric acid, 0.9g calcium carbonate, 0.1g EDTA (sodium salt), 6g glucolactone, 27.2g basic magnesium carbonate, distilled water (up to 1000mL)
